Morgan Schneiderlin (33) is absent from OGC Nice’s mid-season training camp in Marbella, with new sporting director Florent Ghisolfi describing the midfielder’s position as “complicated,” in an interview with L’Équipe.
The former Everton and Manchester United midfielder, who joined Les Aiglons in 2020, has a contract which is set to expire this summer. He has yet to feature this season and looks well out of the picture at the Allianz Riviera. Last season, Schneiderlin made 24 appearances in all competitions, although he made only six Ligue 1 starts. Since the arrivals of Aaron Ramsey and Ross Barkley, Schneiderlin has dropped further down the pecking order.

Subsequently, Schneiderlin hasn’t made the trip with the rest of the squad for the mid-season training camp in Marbella, Spain. Speaking in his first interview since arriving from RC Lens, Ghisolfi evoked a departure for the former France international. “I spoke to him before we camera (to Marbella). He is a flawless guy, who respects the club. The opposite is also true. His sporting situation is complicated. He has six months left on his contract, and he wants to find a new project where he can flourish. If he has an opportunity, we’ll let him go,” said Ghisolfi. Whether he leaves in January or in the summer, it looks as though Schneiderlin may have played his last game for Les Aiglons.
