WWE Cancels Live Event Scheduled For 1/29, Building Director Comments

The Albany, Georgia based cable station WALB TV is reporting that the WWE live event scheduled in the city for Friday, January 29th has been cancelled.

According to the report, Albany Civic Center building officials informed them that WWE was cancelling the show to give the talent the day off, and that it had nothing to do with ticket sales.

The venue is negotiating with WWE to reschedule the show, however they have yet to officially set a new date. Ticket holders to the original event scheduled for 1/29 are being offered refunds for the show that would have been their first time running an event in Albany, Georgia since 2012.

Joel Holmes, the director for the Albany Civic Center, told WALB that for those disappointed in the WWE cancellation, they have other sports and sporting events scheduled in the near future.

“[Arena football will] start in March. We also have Harlem Globetrotters coming in February so another family event. Here in the next couple months, we’ve got several events coming up that we feel will be good activities for the family.”
