Texas Death Match Rules Revealed for Wrestle Kingdom Title Match

The rules have been explained for the upcoming Texas Death Match set to take place during night one of Wrestle Kingdom on January 4th.

Lance Archer will defend the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship against “Death Rider” Jon Moxley in a match with no disqualifications, no count-outs and no pinfalls. The only way to win is via knockout or submission.

Moxley appeared at the World Tag League finals earlier this month and issued a challenge to the Suzuki-Gun champion, before brawling with him to the back, and even attacking Minoru Suzuki in the process.

Moxley was slated to defend the U.S. title against Juice Robinson at King of Pro-Wrestling back in October, but travel issues due to Typhoon Hagibis caused him to miss the show. In New Japan, if they advertise a title match they deliver a title match, so Moxley was stripped of the belt and Archer won it in an impromptu match against Robinson.

Because he was never actually given his rematch against Moxley, the winner of the championship match on night one of Wrestle Kingdom will immediately defend the belt against Robinson on night two.
