L’Équipe report this afternoon that the Rennes supporter who was slapped by Neymar in the aftermath of Paris Saint-Germain’s Coupe de France final loss has filed a legal complaint after a Mediapart investigation published last week named him as one of the targets of the club’s alleged hostile social media campaigns.
The fan was subjected to abuse on social media after his identity was revealed. Mediapart have claimed that PSG used an external agency to lead campaigns using an “army” of fake Twitter accounts as specific media outlets and players, as well as the Rennes supporter in question. His identity was revealed by Paname Squad, which was named by Mediapart as the main Twitter account in the campaigns.
The complaint details that the fan saw the number of clients at his restaurant decrease, he was called out in the street, and had people come up in front of his house and threaten him. Among the claims being levelled, the complaint speaks about “collection of personal data by fraudulent or disloyal means“, “harassment“, and “psychological group violence on a victim“.
