Eurosport FR reliably report that PSG have had an opening bid rejected for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The offer is understood to have been €20m + Alphonse Areola. After thinking about the bid, the Italian side decided to reject it. However, talks are ongoing. New Sporting Director Leonardo knows very well that his former side, AC Milan, is in a precarious financial position.
This low-ball opening proposal was made by Leonardo not by accident, but as a poker move, as part of the process of trying to get the deal done.
Milan are expecting a better offer and on the Paris side, Les Parisiens would still have to convince Alphonse Areola to make the move to Italy in an eventual swap deal. It is understood that his entourage was surprised to see the French international included in this bid by PSG.
If Areola was to leave, his preference is a move to the Premier League. If Donnarumma was to arrive, Areola would not stay, he no longer wants to be a #2 choice and he has made that clear to the PSG board in recent weeks. As a result, the Ligue 1 champions have told Areola that they will let him leave if they sign a new #1 goalkeeper.
