NXT TV Preview (1/30): Fallout From TakeOver: Phoenix

WWE returns to the WWE Network this evening with the post-NXT TakeOver: Phoenix edition of NXT TV from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.

WWE.com released the following preview for tonight’s show:

WWE NXT Preview, Jan. 30, 2019: Unsettled tension rises from the TakeOver: Phoenix ashes

As the ashes left after NXT TakeOver: Phoenix draft away into the NXT Universe’s rearview, a cloud of smoke continues to tower over the black-and-gold brand. Following weeks of meddling, The Street Profits finally get a chance to shoot the fair one against The Forgotten Sons. Retribution is also in the air for Kairi Sane & Io Shirai, who prepare to settle the score against Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke. Plus, more on the aftermath of TakeOver: Phoenix.

The Street Profits square up against The Forgotten Sons

Expect fewer barbs and more blows when The Streets Profits run into The Forgotten Sons this week. A tag team match has been set for the two tandems, following the drama that has unfolded in recent weeks. On the Jan. 16 edition of NXT, Wesley Blake & Steve Cutler, along with their hard-hitting heavy Jaxson Ryker, ambushed Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins during their post-match victory lap with a brutal beatdown. It goes without saying that retribution will be on the menu when they face off this week.

Kairi Sane & Io Shirai aim to silence Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke

Coming off strong performances in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match, as well as top honors in the 2018 NXT Year-End Awards, Kairi Sane & Io Shirai will be riding on more than momentum when they come face-to-face against their nemesis Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke. The Pirate Princess & The Genius of the Sky will aim to silence their rivals, especially after being threatened by Shafir & Duke during a backstage confrontation last week. With bitter history between them, expect a testy scrap to erupt once they step inside the yellow ropes. Can Sane & Shirai settle the score? Or will Shafir & Duke continue their haunting?

NXT TakeOver: Phoenix aftermath

Following a hectic night of black-and-gold action, there is so much left to unpack in the wake of NXT TakeOver: Phoenix. For one, The Undisputed ERA were dealt a blow to their 2019 following The War Raiders’ raid of their NXT Tag Team Championship throne. The NXT Universe also witnessed the crowning of a new NXT North American Champion following Ricochet and Johnny Gargano’s high-stakes thriller, as well as the end to the black-and-gold brand’s famous un-de-fea-ted streak in the aftermath of Bianca Belair and Shayna Baszler’s hectic exchange for the NXT Women’s Title. Then, there’s Aleister Black and Tommaso Ciampa’s brutal battle for the NXT Championship, and the absolute chaos that followed it. As the ashes left after TakeOver: Phoenix continue to ember, be sure to catch the sparks and fallout from the incredible night, including exclusive post-match footage, when WWE NXT streams at 8/7 C, exclusively on WWE Network.
