While everyone is wondering how a particular party is going to form the government in Karnataka, one thing being is mentioned quite consistently, and that is an ‘Anglo-Indian MLA’. It is an intriguing fact the Indian democracy has a space for the community that is said to have no native state of their own. As the name suggests, one readily believes that it has something to do with the English community and its connection with Indian identity. A mere search on the internet gives an idea to define a person from the Anglo-Indian community as:
“A person whose father or any of whose other male progenitors in the male line is or was of European descent; but who is domiciled within the territory of India, and is or was born within such territory of parents habitually resident therein and not established there for temporary purposes only.”
