BORUSSIA DORTMUND’S NURI Sahin has spoken of his struggle to come to terms with last night’s bus attack, revealing that the explosions were still very much on his mind as his side’s rescheduled Champions League quarter-final was going on around him.
Monaco beat Dortmund 3-2 in Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday evening, less than 24 hours after three explosions rocked the Dortmund team coach and left defender Marc Bartra with an arm injury.
Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel was strongly critical of Uefa’s decision to reschedule the game at such short notice, and Sahin’s post-match interview put the team’s emotions into real perspective.
“It’s hard to talk about, it’s hard to find the right words,” he said.
“We saw it a lot of times on TV and it was far, far away from us, even when it was in Istanbul, in my country, on New Year’s Eve, it was close but also very far from us.
“Last night, last evening, we felt how it is like to be in a situation like this. I don’t wish anyone a feeling like this.
“I know football is very important. We love football, we suffer with football, we love football.
“I know we earn a lot of money, we have a privileged life, but we are human beings and there is so much more than football in this world and well, yeah, last night we felt it.
