Cody Rhodes Clarifies Recent Trademark Requests; Says Most Are Not AEW Related

Cody Rhodes had a Twitter exchange on March 20 with Pro-Wrestling: EVE. The EVE account pointed out that Rhodes had filed a trademark for BattleBowl. The name is actually used by EVE for a yearly event that runs every January.

Rhodes was asked if he would mind “looking the other way” next January because the company already had a cease and desist letter from WWE. Cody responded “I don’t mind at all. Have a great show.”

EVE began back in 2010. The United Kingdom promotion is a women’s wrestling company, featuring some of the top female stars in the business, including Viper and Kay Lee Ray. Ray holds the company’s top championship and she’s also signed to WWE’s NXT UK brand. EVE’s first champion was Britani Knight, also known as Paige.

Now that Rhodes has evidently agreed to EVE’s request, it does appear that BattleBowl will indeed take place. Rhodes and his new company, AEW, have made efforts to be as open as possible, not only with the fans but within the industry as well.

So it does seem that the company is willing to work along with others, which is a good thing. WWE in particular, has received criticism in the past for not working all that well with other promotions and that does not appear to the the case for AEW.
