It was speculated that the reason for yet another heel figure for Smackdown could be in response to declining viewership and next year’s move to FOX.
— With the move to FOX happening later in 2019, WWE runs to their apparent tried-and-tested program of a heel McMahon authority figure – whether it’s Vince, Stephanie or Shane – as a way to get more people to watch.
— The Observer speculates that the transition of Shane from babyface to heel is going to be due to the World Cup win and what it looks like will happen is that Shane will let the tournament win go to his head, he will begin believing that he is truly the best and eventually the audience will start hating him because of it.
