AS Monaco have rejected a €50m proposal from Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian for striker Radamel Falcao, who shares the same agent Jorge Mendes with Chelsea forward Diego Costa.
L’Équipe report that there is a possibility that the Colombian international leaves the club this month, citing the words of AS Monaco Vice President Vasilyev in an interview with Canal Football Club aired last night:
“China has become a significant actor with the amount they can offer for players. At one moment or another, we resist, but after a certain point, I have to think like a club representative. Obviously I want to win titles and trophies, but there are unique situations. There are very few clubs in the world that can reject all offers.”
Although Monaco have rejected the initial offer from China, would they reject another one that was 20 or 30 percent higher? Probably not. hence why AS Monaco Sporting Director Antonio Cordon is currently looking to sign a world class striker, if they are forced to replace Falcao.
The situation is not clear cut, Falcao himself would undoubtedly be enticed by the money, but is finally enjoying football again for the first time in three seasons. That is counting for something in the decision-making process, but the situation is very fluid at the moment.
Falcao to China? A considerable possibility.
