According to sources contacted exclusively by Get French Football News, despite rumours suggesting otherwise, Lucas Digne was keen to stay in Paris and earn his place in the first XI but is now ready to leave the french capital, somewhat unwillingly, despite the fact that his family is happy in Paris.
The fact that PSG have agreed to let Liverpool negotiate with the left-back’s agent deeply disappointed a motivated Lucas Digne who expected PSG to show him that they want him to continue his football with them.
The player went in to the summer transfer window looking to leave, but was encouraged by the pre-season he was having and thought that it might be enough to convince Laurent Blanc’s staff that he deserved a starting place ahead of Maxwell.
His agent is currently in talks with Liverpool, who are believed to be working on the deal directly from London where PSG Sporting Director Olivier Létang has reportedly been since the weekend. No formal offer has been made by Liverpool to PSG at the time of writing.
Lucas Digne will wait to make a decision in early August, when he returns from the U.S. Tour and the Trophée des Champions. No formal decision will be taken until that point. Get French Football News sources have tonight confirmed that his agent is working in an accelerated fashion to draw up the contours of a provisional contract and that the Merseyside club are putting themselves in a position whereby they would be first in line to complete a deal upon the player’s return from the U.S.
It does however, all rest with Lucas Digne, who has not made any decision on his future at the time of writing. Where is he most likely to attain a place in France’s EURO 2016 squad? Liverpool will have to give the player first team football assurances which trump those that he currently has in Paris to stand any chance of closing a deal this window, something they are apparently willing to do.
