L’Équipe report that 18-year-old PSG central defender Tanguy Kouassi is “very interested” in an approach from Rennes, having announced last week to Les Parisiens’ club representatives that he would not be signing a professional contract with his current club.
Rennes President Nicolas Holveck has been discreetly working on this possible deal for multiple weeks – members of the teenager’s entourage have in recent weeks been advocating for an intermediary step for the player, and SRFC can offer that regular playing time more concretely than Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, both rumoured to have made big contract offers for the teenager in recent days.
Sources at Dortmund have formally denied this claim to the French newspaper. AC Milan and RB Leipzig have been informed by the player’s agent, Hakim Hamouche, that Kouassi won’t be joining them.
SRFC have been undertaking these negotiations alongside talks for Reims defender Axel Disasi, hoping to land at least two central defenders this summer, having already activated Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu’s €12m release clause and are in contract talks with the Ghanaian as we speak.
