Ligue 1 side Lille have confirmed the arrival of Canadian international and 20-year-old attacker Jonathan David from Belgian side Gent for a reported €31.5m including bonuses fee.
David has signed a 5-year contract with Les Dogues and has been handed the #9 shirt, vacated by Loïc Rémy’s departure on a free transfer.
David had the following to say upon the move:
“I am very happy. I have waited a lot for this day, and it is a pleasure to be a Dogue today. I know the project that has been put into place at Lille by the president, Luis Campos and Christophe Galtier. There is a very good team with good players. I want to play and improve, and I think that this is the best place to do that. I am a player who knows how to position himself on the pitch. I like to play with my strengths: technique and pace notably. I can’t wait to meet the fans. Allez le LOSC!”
