According to Fabrice Hakwins, Southampton are amongst a list of clubs interested in recruiting Olympique Lyonnais forward Karl Toko-Ekambi (30), who isn’t closed to the idea of leaving the Ligue 1 club.
Toko-Ekambi was roundly booed by the home fans at the Groupama Stadium as Lyon lost against relegation-fighting Strasbourg. There were also signs of Toko-Ekambi’s face captioned “get out” during the match, and after leaving the pitch, he went straight to the dressing room, kicking a bin on his way.
Within this context, Hawkins reports that the Cameroonian international could be available for just €4m this month. The player’s contract expires in 18 months’ time. The player himself isn’t closed to the idea of leaving Les Gones.
Premier League side Southampton are interested in recruiting the player, as are Saudi Arabian side Al Shabab. Ligue 1 rivals Stade Rennais are interested in a six-month loan deal for the player. Martin Terrier will miss the remainder of the season for Bruno Génésio’s side, whilst Arnaud Kalimuendo is also now out injured.
